# How to set up Muse

Muse is the quickest agent to get running: install the app, sign in and start messaging. Spend a couple of extra minutes telling it what it must never share or agree to.

## What you need

- An adult account in the United States or Canada
- A Meta account through Facebook, Instagram or email
- A payment card, which is required even on the free plan
- An iPhone or Android phone, a Mac or a web browser

## Step by step

### 1. Get the app

Install Muse from the App Store or Google Play, or go to muse.ai on a computer. A Mac app is available as well.

### 2. Sign in and create your Muse

Sign in with your Meta account, then pick a name and an avatar. If a friend sent you an invite code, redeem it in Settings within 48 hours to receive bonus tokens.

### 3. Link WhatsApp if you use it

You can message Muse directly in WhatsApp. It shares its memory with the app, so you can switch between them freely.

### 4. Send your boundaries first

Message Muse your rules before any errand: never share your address, phone number or schedule, never accept an offer or pay without asking, and check with you before contacting anyone new. Keep the wording plain and specific.

### 5. Try a small errand

Start with a price watch or a reminder list instead of a purchase. See how Muse asks for approval, then decide what you are comfortable letting it do.

## First things to do after setup

- Ask Muse for your token balance before a long job; the free allowance resets weekly on a day tied to your sign-up date.
- Shop at stores that use Shopify and PayPal, where checkout works more smoothly.
- Handle Marketplace pickup details yourself and keep your address out of Muse entirely.

## Common mistakes

- Sending Muse to Amazon, which blocks it.
- Letting it shop or negotiate before you have seen how it asks for approval.
- Skipping the boundaries message; one early user reported that Muse gave his home address to a Marketplace buyer.
