Amazon blocked Muse from its store after Meta declined to take Amazon out of the Muse shopping experience, according to GeekWire and Business Insider. Customers who try it now see a warning about unauthorized agents.
Amazon objects that Muse never announces itself as an agent and seems to hold on to customers' Amazon login details. It has done the same before to Perplexity's Comet and to agents built by OpenAI and Google.
The standoff is one front in a broader contest over who controls shopping by agents. Retailers are pushing for agents that sign each request and go through official checkout protocols.
